As Chicago continues pushing toward becoming the premier tech city in the country, job opportunities in and around technology are present to an ever-expanding base of potential employees. With millennial and Gen-Z employees entering the workforce with a greater understanding of technology, shifts in education and training practices, online coding camps, and ever-changing definitions of ‘social media savviness’, this pool of talent is larger [and more diverse] than ever before.
While talent is out there, an important question must be answered by those hiring: are we searching for ‘free-agent’ talent, or ‘farm-system’ employees? As we continue to grapple with the effects of high resignation rates and an increased demand for technical talent, are those strategizing and hiring seeking out independent workers (subcontractors), or is the model of traditional tech and IT talent that is salaried and retained more attractive in the moment? How has the arrival of a new era of work-from-home and remote life affected how leaders are debating and scaling their talent needs?
Exec Club of Chicago’s Business Technology Forum comes together to address these questions and more. Join us for a conversation on the future of technology talent!
