We Rise Together: Accelerating Equitable Economic Recovery

How unstoppable would Chicago be if our Black and Latinx neighbors had the same economic opportunity and impact as our white community members? That question is driving the work of We Rise Together: For an Equitable & Just Recovery, which is accelerating equitable economic recovery in metropolitan Chicago so that the region and everyone who lives here is on track to achieve our full economic potential.

Chicago’s growth and economic outlook has lagged since the Great Recession deepened the economic divide between our white communities and communities of color. When so much of our population is earning, employed, and building wealth at far lower rates than the rest, we cannot achieve lasting economic recovery. We invite you to join us April 13 to hear how We Rise Together is igniting more people and places to be powerful contributors to Chicago’s economy by connecting philanthropy with community vision and private capital.

A panel moderated by Helene Gayle, president and CEO, The Chicago Community Trust, will share how We Rise Together is focusing recovery efforts by believing in—and investing in—the aspirations of Black and Latinx workers, business owners, and neighborhoods. They’ll talk about the payoffs and challenges of pooling resources to make Chicago a more equitable place to work, build, and start a business. And they’ll discuss how you and your company can contribute to this once-in-a-generation opportunity, as We Rise Together steers Chicago’s collective energy toward a stronger, more equitable economic future that benefits all of us.
